The Liberal Media: America's Biggest Threat

Having worked part-time at a bookstore during the time of its release, I purchased Ann Coulter's "Guilty" the first minute we were allowed to put it on the shelves. Though I was most of the way through another great literary tomb (Pillars of the Earth), I eagerly took a two-day break from the pages of one masterpiece to tear through those of another. As a 19 year old girl, I realize I don't fit into the usual uber-conservative demographic most people associate with Ann's fan base. For years, I've debated with my peers over the core principles of which we believe our nation's government should be based. The youth of America are, for the most part, atrociously mislead when it comes to understanding even the bare minimum about our government.
Now, this can't be entirely blamed on the naivete of my young friends. The media of our country has long been controlled by liberal-zombies who have dedicated their lives to maintaining their control over the ideas which are accepted as "truth" in our complex society. They dangle carrots of morality and Utopian-ideology over the heads of America's youth. This works especially well when used on those who have been born into a comfortable middle or upper-middle class lifestyle. Do you deserve a cure when someone else living in poverty dies? Universal health care! This process of guilt-mongering has lured millions of unsuspecting youth into establishing a strong liberal belief systems before they even reach their high school graduation (which is a miracle in itself if they go to public school).
While I recognize that I can't expect my friends to be even remotely as interested in the EIB network or Fox News as I am, (shout out to Glen Beck and Mark Levin!), it continually boggles my mind that they allow themselves to be so ceremoniously inducted into the cult of left-wing conformity (then again, I guess if Katie Couric or Whoopi says its true, it must be). By the time they matriculate at a university (again, for the most part, horrifically liberal institutions), the chants of the radical democrats are so cemented in their brains that they can hardly listen to an opposing argument. To be a young conservative is to (seemingly) support war, racism, poverty, homelessness... the list really is too long and demeaning to continue. Any discussion quickly degrades into an almost apologetic defense of my core principles.
This ideological monopoly maintained by liberals is supported across the board by that sector of politically-minded people. The party-line seems to be to deny the existence of a liberal mainstream media until conservatives become so frustrated they stop asking questions. Democrats have perfected this repetitive denial and are able to apply it to almost any situation which one might find oneself in. My favorite example of this is the "What Liberal Media?" bumper sticker. Whenever I see one of these on a car in front me, its all I can do to stop myself from slamming into their bumper, destroying the sticker. The only thing which keeps me from doing this is the knowledge that my Lexus would probably be far more damaged than their '83 Pontiac, so I keep my distance.
While facts are not necessarily needed for liberal (secular) hero-worship, conservatives are often required to provide proof to beyond a shadow of a doubt, and still are accused of fact-distortion. This seems to be the process which Ann Coulter must follow. She writes a New York Times Bestseller (irony?), provides painstaking research and footnotes, and still is treated like a leper whenever she dares stray from the confines of Fox News interviews. In watching her appearance on The View, I found myself laughing at the blind attacks waged by the hosts on my dear Ann. Even Elizabeth, who can usually be counted on as the right-of-center voice on this program, joined in to throw stones. Not once bringing up the validity of her cited facts, they simply yelled at her for being uncaring. This, however, was not what I found to be the most shocking part of the interview. Those ladies (again, with the usual exception of Elizabeth), have presented us time and time again with such liberal ignorance. The shocking part was the thunderous applause which erupted every time they paused to take a breath. Did no one in the audience see that they were simply applauding name-calling in its lowest form?
In summery, something must be done about the further indoctrination into this growing liberal cult. This is not to say that everyone in America must conform to conservative ideals. In fact, I am saying exactly the opposite. It is only natural that people will have opposing viewpoints. This is the life blood which used to run deep in the soil of American politics. There is nothing I enjoy more than a calm discussion of ideas backed up by facts. However, this is swiftly becoming simply a thing of the past. In today's world of liberal control, we are losing the ability to think for ourselves, and, because of this, the ability to effectively govern ourselves. If things continue in this direction, governmental control will quickly be relinquished to the small circle of the liberal politicians in power and their media minions. We must not forget that politicians are elected to voice the concerns, opinions, and desires of the people of this great country, not the low-class celebrities who have taken seemingly taken control.
